BRSV calls for equal justice and fair treatment of students at JNTU.
Hyderabad: The BRSV ( Bharat Rashtra Samithi Vidyarthi Vibhagam ) - Coordinator Greater Hyderabad ) has called for equal treatment for students across various disciplines under Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU). Adv Mir Qurram Ali, the coordinator of BRSV-GHMC, has written a formal letter to the Vice-Chancellor of JNTU, urging the administration to address alleged disparities between B.Tech and B.Pharm students.
In his email, Adv Mir Qurram Ali highlighted a growing concern among students and their parents regarding the promotion policies. Recently, the university permitted B.Tech students to progress without detention despite backlogs. However, B.Pharm third-year students, facing similar challenges, have been detained, risking an entire academic year.
"This selective approach is unfair," said Qurram Ali. "B.Pharm students are crucial to the health sector as future pharmacists and healthcare professionals. Detaining them not only affects their academic progress but also impacts the healthcare ecosystem."
The issue has sparked frustration among B.Pharm students, many of whom have lodged complaints and appealed to the university for reconsideration. Students argue that their education and careers are being jeopardized due to inconsistent policies.
One month ago, JNTU’s decision to detain third-year B.Pharm students caused a significant uproar. Many students claim this decision will result in wasted academic years and hinder their contributions to the medical and healthcare sectors.
adv Mir Qurram Ali appealed directly to the JNTU administration, urging them to align policies for B.Pharm students with those of B.Tech students. “We request the Vice-Chancellor to allow B.Pharm third-year students to be promoted, similar to B.Tech students. Equal justice is all we ask for.”
As the matter gains attention, student unions and advocacy groups are expected to intensify their efforts to push for reforms in JNTU’s promotion policies. The university has yet to respond to these demands, leaving the affected students in limbo.
