Hyderabad: In a heartbreaking incident, five teenagers from Hyderabad tragically drowned in the Konda Pochamma Dam in Siddipet district on Saturday, January 11. The group of seven boys, who were on a Sankranti vacation outing, visited the dam that morning. While taking photographs, the teenagers ventured into the water.
Police investigations indicate that one of the boys began to drown, prompting the others to jump in to save him. However, only two of them managed to escape the strong currents.
The survivors quickly alerted local residents, who, along with professional swimmers, launched rescue efforts. Siddipet Superintendent of Police, Dr. B. Anuradha, is overseeing the ongoing rescue operations.
The victims have been identified as Dhanush, Sahil, Jatin, Lohith, and C. Dhaneshwar, while Mohd Ibrahim and Komari Mrigak, who managed to swim to safety, were also part of the group. All the teens are residents of Musheerabad in Hyderabad.
