Skoda Kylaq Earns 5-Star Safety Rating in Bharat NCAP, Setting New Standards for Sub-4m SUVs

Mumbai:Skoda Auto India’s all-new Kylaq, the brand's first sub-4m SUV, has been awarded a prestigious 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) crash tests. The Kylaq becomes the first Skoda vehicle to undergo Bharat NCAP testing, continuing the brand’s commitment to safety excellence, previously demonstrated by the Kushaq and Slavia, both of which received 5-star ratings in Global NCAP crash tests.

The Kylaq achieved 30.88 points out of a possible 32 for Adult Occupant Protection and 45.00 points out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection, making it the safest vehicle in its segment. This marks a major milestone for Skoda as it continues to prioritize safety across its portfolio.

Pioneering Safety Features
Petr Janeba, Brand Director at Skoda Auto India, emphasized the company’s dedication to safety, stating, “Safety is intrinsic to the Skoda DNA. Since 2008, every Skoda vehicle has been crash-tested globally and in India with a 5-star rating. The Kylaq now leads its segment in Bharat NCAP testing, equipped with over 25 active and passive safety features as standard, including six airbags.”

The Kylaq is built on the MQB-A0-IN platform and comes with a host of advanced safety technologies, including Electronic Stability Control, Roll Over Protection, Hill Hold Control, Multi-Collision Braking, and XDS+. These features, combined with the car’s hot-stamped steel construction and enhanced crash management system, ensure maximum safety for both adult and child occupants.

Test Results and Performance
In the Bharat NCAP testing, the Kylaq achieved impressive scores in multiple crash scenarios:

  • Adult Occupant Protection: 30.88/32.00 (97%)
  • Child Occupant Protection: 45.00/49.00 (92%)

A Legacy of Safety Excellence
Skoda Auto India’s legacy of safety continues with the Kylaq, following the achievements of the Kushaq and Slavia. The Kushaq, launched in 2022, became the first vehicle manufactured in India to receive a 5-star rating under the more stringent Global NCAP protocols. The Slavia, launched in 2023, also received a 5-star rating, further cementing Skoda's leadership in automotive safety.

The Kylaq’s achievement in Bharat NCAP underscores Skoda’s ongoing commitment to delivering world-class safety features, tailored specifically to meet the needs of the Indian market.
