Central Zone DCP Akshansh Yadav in a late night press conference said Krishnaiah Goud's mental condition was not stable and he confessed that he was hungry and came to the venue in search of food.

Hyderabad: The Begum Bazaar police solved the case of goddess Durga idol vandalism reported at a pandal in Exhibition Ground in Nampally and arrested one Krishnaiah Goud of Nagarkurnool district in connection with the case on Friday night.

Central Zone DCP Akshansh Yadav in a late night press conference said Krishnaiah Goud’s mental condition was not stable and he confessed that he was hungry and came to the venue in search of food.

The pandal organisers filed a complaint with the Begum Bazaar police, who visited the spot.

Unidentified persons are suspected to have moved the donation box aside at the puja pandal, causing the idol’s hand to fall off.

The CCTV footage is being examined.
