Tension Erupts Near BJP Office in Hyderabad Over Ramesh Bidhuri’s Remarks on Priyanka Gandhi

Hyderabad: Tension gripped the area near the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state office at Nampally on Tuesday, January 7, as Youth Congress members staged a protest against BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri's inappropriate comments about Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi. During the protest, Youth Congress workers hurled stones at the BJP office, injuring a BJP worker. In response, BJP workers emerged from the office, armed with sticks, and chased the Congress workers away under the watch of police.

At around noon, Youth Congress leaders charged toward the BJP office from Nampally main road. Despite attempts by police to stop them, the Congress workers reached the office gate and threw eggs and tomatoes at the building. The police pushed the Congress protesters back, while BJP workers emerged from the office, brandishing sticks, and tried to retaliate.

The protest was sparked by controversial remarks made by senior BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri. In a viral video, Bidhuri reportedly made an inappropriate comparison involving Priyanka Gandhi, which led to outrage. “Lalu said in Bihar he would make roads like Hema Malini’s cheeks, but he lied. I assure you, we will make all roads in Kalkaji like Priyanka Gandhi’s cheeks,” he said. Although the remarks were widely criticized, Bidhuri later posted an apology on social media, claiming his comments were misconstrued and expressing regret if they caused offense.

Following the altercation, security was heightened at both the BJP office and the state Congress headquarters, Gandhi Bhavan, with additional police personnel deployed to manage the situation.
