The petition addressed to the High Court highlights the plight of the Shia community in Telangana, where an overwhelming 90% of its members endure severe poverty. Despite efforts, the Commissioner of Welfare of Telangana has yet to respond to their pleas for assistance. Consequently, the Shia Civil Council for Social Justice escalated the matter by submitting a formal petition to the High Court.
The petition implores for the appointment of a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) to represent the Shia community and address their pressing issues, aiming for the community's development and well-being. In response to this urgent plea, the Honorable High Court Justice issued an order under Writ Petition No. 4601 of 2024. This order calls upon the Telangana Government and the esteemed Telangana Governor to consider the appointment of an MLC to advocate for the development and progress of the Shia community in Telangana.
