Tihar Jail Official Clarifies Reason for Cancelled Meeting Between CM Kejriwal and Atishi

New Delhi: The controversy surrounding the cancellation of a proposed meeting between Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Minister Atishi has taken a new turn with a clarification from a Tihar Jail official. The official revealed that the meeting was scheduled separately for two ministers, leading to confusion.

According to the official, Health and Education Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj was slated to meet the Chief Minister on Wednesday, while Atishi's meeting was scheduled for April 29. The decision to allow only Bhardwaj's meeting on Wednesday was based on this schedule.

"This is the reason why only Bhardwaj was allowed to meet on Wednesday," the jail official stated. He further explained that Atishi's meeting was not abruptly cancelled, but rather, she had applied for permission following proper protocols.

The clarification comes in response to allegations made by AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh, who accused the Tihar Jail administration of cancelling the meeting at the last moment. Singh had compared the situation to historical instances, stating, "Even during the British period, such behavior was not seen."

Singh, during a press conference, asserted that both Bhardwaj and Atishi were supposed to meet the Chief Minister in Tihar. He expressed frustration over the cancellations, indicating that the party's National General Secretary (Organization), Sandeep Pathak, was also affected by the abrupt changes.

The clarification from the Tihar Jail official sheds light on the logistical scheduling issues that led to the cancellation of Atishi's meeting. However, the controversy surrounding the incident continues to draw attention and criticism from political circles.
