India Poised as Global Talent Hub with 7% Surge in Employability by 2030
New Delhi: The India Skills Report 2025, released by Wheebox ETS in partnership with CII, Taggd, AICTE, and AIU, spotlights India’s rising prominence in global talent mobility. The report, themed “Global Talent Mobility”, outlines India’s strategic roadmap to address worldwide workforce demands with a focus on employability, hiring trends, and skills development.
India’s employability rate among graduates has risen to 54.81% in 2025, a 7% increase from last year’s 51.25%. This growth aligns with India’s youthful workforce—65% of which is under 35—positioning the nation as a vital supplier of skilled professionals for regions like the Gulf Nations, Southeast Asia, Europe, and Africa. Key sectors such as technology, healthcare, renewable energy, and artificial intelligence (AI) are driving this trend, showcasing India’s capacity for innovation and global economic contribution.
“This decade belongs to India as a leader in global talent mobility,” said Nirmal Singh, Chief Convenor of the India Skills Report and CEO of Wheebox ETS. He emphasized the importance of internationally certified skill programs integrated with language training to boost opportunities for India’s workforce. “Our talent pool bridges global skill gaps, creating transformative opportunities in a fast-evolving economy,” Singh added.
Optimistic Hiring Trends for 2025
The report highlights a positive hiring outlook, with over 1,000 corporations across 15 industries—including technology, manufacturing, healthcare, and e-commerce—planning to onboard new talent. States like Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Delhi lead in talent availability, while cities such as Pune, Bengaluru, and Mumbai emerge as hubs for employable professionals.
Transformative Government Initiatives
The steady rise in employability reflects the impact of initiatives like the Skill India Mission, NEP 2020, and state-led skilling programs. By 2025, 50% of secondary and tertiary students are expected to receive vocational training, preparing them for industry-aligned roles. These efforts underscore the commitment to creating a globally competitive workforce.
Vision for 2030
The India Skills Report 2025 outlines key focus areas to align India’s talent pool with global needs:
• Vocational Training: Expanding access to industry-specific skills like AI, cybersecurity, and green energy.
• Cross-Border Collaboration: Partnering with countries facing aging populations and labor shortages.
• Technology Integration: Leveraging AI and automation in education to equip graduates for emerging roles.
• Diversity and Inclusion: With women now accounting for 47.53% of the employable talent pool, the report emphasizes the need for a balanced workforce.
“This rise in employability is not just a statistic; it’s proof of India’s adaptability and innovation in a globally connected world,” Singh concluded, urging large-scale, internationally certified skilling initiatives to meet global workforce demands.
With a clear vision and robust strategies, India is set to solidify its position as a global powerhouse for skilled talent by 2030.
