Asaduddin Owaisi sends chadar crafted by Hyderabad artisans to Ajmer Dargah
On Thursday, January 2, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) sent a special ‘chadar’ to the Ajmer Sharif Dargah to be offered during the annual Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti. Party leader Asaduddin Owaisi presented the delicately crafted yellow and green chadar, which was made by the bangle merchants of Laad Bazaar in Charminar, led by Mujeeb Bangles.
Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti, also known as Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz, was a revered Sufi saint from the Chisti order and is believed to be a direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad. Born in Sistan (modern-day Eastern Iran and Southern Afghanistan), he traveled from Lahore to Delhi before settling in Ajmer. His tomb, located at the Ajmer Sharif Dargah, is one of the most sacred Islamic shrines in the world, attracting Muslims and people of all faiths from across the globe each year.
The Urs festival is celebrated annually in Ajmer to commemorate the death anniversary of the beloved Sufi saint. It takes place during the first six days of ‘Rajab,’ the seventh month of the Islamic calendar. Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti, who is credited with establishing the Chisti order of Sufi mysticism in India during the early 13th century, was also the first saint to incorporate music and hymns into prayers. It is believed that the Prophet Muhammad appeared in Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti’s dream and instructed him to become his representative in India.
