Hyderabad: 600 Kg of Animal Meat Seized in Andhra Pradesh, Driver Detained

Anakapalle district authorities in Andhra Pradesh seized **600 kilograms of animal meat** allegedly being transported to Hyderabad on Tuesday, January 21. According to the Anakapalle Circle Inspector, the seizure followed a tip-off received on Monday regarding the illegal transportation of cattle meat. Acting on the information, officials conducted a vehicle check at the Vempadu Toll Plaza, where the consignment was intercepted. The meat was reportedly being transported from West Bengal to Hyderabad.

The police confirmed that the container carrying the meat was seized, the driver was taken into custody, and steps were taken to properly dispose of the seized meat by burying it.

This crackdown is part of a broader trend seen in several BJP-ruled states, where raids and seizures related to cattle and meat transportation have become more frequent. Since the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), led by **N. Chandrababu Naidu**, allied with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), local authorities have been observed taking stricter measures against cattle-related offences.

Observers note that such operations align with the BJP’s ideological stance on cow protection and beef consumption, which often intersects with religious sentiments and communal dynamics. Critics argue that these measures disproportionately impact certain communities, particularly Muslims, who are frequently involved in the meat trade.
