10-Year-Old Suffers Food Poisoning from Expired Product Purchased at D-Mart Nagole: Outrage in Hyderabad
Complaint Filed Against D-Mart Nagole for Selling Expired Products
Nagole, Hyderabad – A shocking incident has stirred public anger after a 10-year-old boy, Md. Sufan Ali, reportedly fell ill due to food poisoning caused by an expired product purchased at D-Mart Nagole. The boy's family claims he experienced severe stomach pain and vomiting shortly after consuming the item. He was rushed to a nearby clinic, where prompt medical treatment stabilized his condition.
The family has lodged a formal police complaint, accusing the supermarket of negligence and compromising public health.
Rising Concerns Among Citizens
Nasreen Begum, a customer activist, highlighted her own troubling encounter with the same retail outlet. She alleged that her son, Safi, fell ill after consuming a packet of parathas purchased from D-Mart Nagole on December 26. “Why is the government allowing this to happen? Are food safety officers in Telangana asleep?” she asked, urging immediate action against negligent practices.
Begum also recounted an unpleasant experience with the store's management. “When we confronted the manager, he was dismissive and behaved rudely, claiming they would refund the money but insisted no one could take action against them. This kind of arrogance is intolerable,” she said.
Calls for Accountability
This incident is part of a growing number of food poisoning cases reported in Telangana, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of food safety laws. Begum and other concerned citizens are demanding that retail chains like D-Mart take greater responsibility for ensuring the safety of their products.
“Retail giants have a duty to uphold food safety standards. Incidents like this endanger lives and should not be taken lightly,” said Begum, urging the government to prioritize consumer protection.
Awaiting D-Mart’s Response
D-Mart’s management has yet to issue an official statement addressing the allegations. Their silence has only intensified public frustration and demands for transparency and accountability.
This alarming case highlights the urgent need for authorities and businesses to prioritize food safety and safeguard public health, reminding all stakeholders of their shared responsibility in preventing such incidents.
