Rein Bazar Police Crack Burglary Case in 10 Hours, Arrest Two

Hyderabad, Jan 3: The Rein Bazar Police on Saturday arrested two individuals accused of breaking into the house of Mazher Uddin, a post-doctoral fellow residing in Kotla Ahsan Ullah Khan, Hyderabad. Police recovered stolen gold jewelry weighing 16 thulas and ₹3.5 lakhs in cash.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Shaik Zareena (45), a maid employed at Uddin’s residence, and her son, Shaik Irshad (22), a cab driver. According to the police, Uddin had been attending his wife’s last rites on January 1, 2025, when the crime took place.

Zareena, who had been working at the complainant's house for several months, had noticed the gold jewelry and cash kept in the almirah. Sharing this information with her son, the duo hatched a plan to steal the valuables. On the night of the incident, Irshad used a cutter to break into the house by tampering with the ventilation grill and unlocking the almirah with a toucher. They then made off with the gold and cash, concealing the stolen items at their home.

Investigation and Arrest:

Upon receiving the complaint, the police team, led by Inspector L. Ramesh Naik, began investigating similar cases and monitoring known offenders. During their inquiry, Zareena was identified as the primary suspect. On January 3, 2025, she was brought in for questioning and subsequently confessed to the crime. She led officers to the stolen items, which were recovered from her residence within 10 hours.

The successful resolution of the case was made possible under the supervision of D.C.P. South Zone, Sneha Mehra, IPS, and ACP NNSV Venkateshwar Rao.
