City Mourns Shahadat of Hazrat Imam Ali (a.s.)
Thousands Participate in Processions, Prayer Sessions, and Majlis Across the City

The city reverberated with devotion and solemnity as thousands of Shia Muslims gathered to observe the Shahadat of Hazrat Imam Ali (a.s) on the 20th day of Ramzan. The occasion was marked by large-scale religious gatherings, prayer sessions, and processions, with special programmes held throughout the city, particularly in the Old City area and at the revered Moula Ali Pahad.
A major procession was taken out to commemorate Hazrat Ali’s martyrdom, starting from Charminar. The march proceeded through prominent areas, including Masjid-e-Imamia near Kali Kabar, Mirchowk, Charkaman, Gulzar Houz, Pather Gatti, Madina, Tipu Khana Masjid, Chatta Bazar, Lakkad Kote, and Purani Haveli, before concluding at Darushifa.
Along the route, participants mourned the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali by reciting nohas (elegies) and marsiyas (poetic lamentations). Many carried Alam, while others distributed Tabruk to the devotees as a gesture of goodwill. Upon reaching Darushifa, the participants gathered at a local mosque for the evening prayers, continuing their religious observance.
On the night of the 20th Ramzan, thousands of devotees ascended the Moula Ali Pahad to offer special prayers in remembrance of Hazrat Ali. The spiritual atmosphere was amplified by the recitation ofmarsiya, and noha, as scholars delivered sermons highlighting the life and martyrdom of Hazrat Ali. A Majlis (religious gathering) was organized, where Zari-e-Mubarak (sacred replica of the Imam’s tomb) were lifted by members of the community as a symbol of reverence. As part of the observance, tabarruk (sacred food offerings) was distributed among the devotees.
In the late-night hours before 21st Ramzan Sehri, another Majlis was held at Panjesha. The gathering drew a large number of community members who mourned the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali by lifting the Zari-e-Mubarak (sacred replica of the Imam’s tomb) and reciting marsiyas and hadees delivered by scholars. The recitation of noha added to the somber atmosphere, as the devotees expressed their grief and paid homage to Hazrat Ali. The event concluded with the faithful offering prayers and partaking in the sehri meal, marking the end of a night filled with reverence, remembrance, and devotion.
From 19th to 21st Ramadan, the Shia Muslim community solemnly observes the martyrdom (Shahadat) of Imam Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (A.S) with deep sorrow and reverence.
On the 19th of Ramadan in 40 AH (661 CE), Hazrat Ali was struck with a poisoned sword by Abd al-Rahman ibn Muljam while leading the Fajr (dawn) prayer in the Great Mosque of Kufa. This night is marked with mourning gatherings (Majlis), where Shia Muslims recite eulogies (marsiyas) and laments, highlighting the virtues, justice, and spiritual wisdom of Hazrat Ali.

On the 21st of Ramadan, Hazrat Ali (RA) succumbed to his wounds. Shia Muslims mark this day by wearing black attire as a symbol of mourning. They hold majlis and processions, recounting his life, virtues, and martyrdom.
