Nalgonda: The half charred body of an unidentified person in his 50s found in a coffee estate in Sontikoppa in Karnataka paved the way for a major investigation shouldered by four special teams constituted by the Karnataka police. It took ten days for the teams to identify the body as a businessman, Ramesh Kumar from Yadadri Bhongir district.
In all, 16 police personnel were part of the efforts to trace the identity of the man by scanning the video footage of more than 500 CCTV cameras that helped in spotting his car in which he was done to death. They concluded that his second wife Niharika, who was working with a reputed company in Benguluru, was behind the murder. Ramesh Kumar was her third husband.
He had recently sold a property worth Rs 8 crore. Niharika had allegedly got him killed with help of two of her friends, Nikil, a veterinarian and Ankur Rana from Haridwar, for the sake of the money the victim had in his possession. Ramesh Kumar was strangled to death in his own vehicle when he was on his way from Hyderabad to Sontigoppa. Her veterinarian friend was allegedly involved in disposing of the body, according to the police.
