BRSV Coordinator Urges CM to Redirect Iftar Funds for Student Scholarships

BRSV Coordinator Urges CM to Redirect Iftar Funds for Student Scholarships

Hyderabad, March 22, 2025

Adv Mir Qurram Ali, the GHMC Coordinator for BRSV (Bharat Rashtra Students wing ), took to Twitter on Thursday, urging Telangana's Chief Minister Revanth Reddy  to address pressing issues concerning the state's Muslim community, particularly in relation to educational funds and student reimbursements.

In his tweet, Ali criticized the ongoing political Iftar parties, which have become a staple during the holy month of Ramadan. He called on the CM to redirect the funds allocated for these events towards more urgent matters such as scholarships, fee reimbursements, and other financial aid for Muslim students. Ali voiced the frustration of many in the community, who feel that the government has failed to release promised minority funds and support educational initiatives.

The tweet read:

"Dear CM @revanth_anumula, please cancel the political Iftar Party and redirect the funds towards student reimbursements. We need education and employment, not khajoor. #Ramadan."

Ali’s message resonates with concerns over the allocation of resources, with many questioning why minority funds have yet to be released and why students are facing delays in receiving their scholarships. As Ramadan unfolds, tensions have risen, with many students seeking answers as to why basic educational reimbursements are being withheld while political gatherings continue.

The coordinator's tweet has sparked a debate, with some supporting his call for a more pragmatic approach to the needs of the Muslim community, while others argue that religious gatherings are an important part of community bonding during Ramadan.

However, the issue of delayed reimbursements and scholarships remains a priority for many, as students continue to struggle with the rising costs of education. Ali’s tweet reflects the broader concern that while symbolic gestures like Iftar parties are often celebrated, the more fundamental issues related to education and employment for minorities in the state are being ignored.

As the situation develops, it remains to be seen how the Telangana government will respond to the growing discontent and whether it will take action to address the community's concerns about educational support.
