Tlangana Bhavan, October 6, 2024* — In a press conference held today, Gellu Srinivas Yadav, the State President of the Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi Vahini (BRSV), expressed strong criticisms of the current education system in Telangana, particularly targeting the government's handling of fee reimbursements and the overall state of higher education.Yadav asserted that if Revanth Reddy were to become Chief Minister, the education system would "be put in the cart," referencing a perceived deterioration in educational standards and accessibility. He emphasized the ongoing issues surrounding fee reimbursement, stating that not a single rupee has been disbursed to colleges despite significant arrears totaling around ₹6,500 crores. This delay has left students struggling to obtain their transfer certificates and has deterred many from pursuing higher education, leading to increased reliance on loans.
Yadav also highlighted the financial difficulties faced by employees in private educational institutions due to unpaid salaries stemming from the non-reimbursement of fees. He noted that in government colleges like Nizam College, certificates are withheld unless a nocdue certificate is provided, further complicating students' educational journeys.
Addressing broader issues, Yadav criticized the government's recent notification regarding the filling of 2,050 staff nurse positions, stating that no action has been taken against private paramedical colleges that fail to issue necessary certificates to students. He urged the State Women's Commission to investigate corporate colleges and gurukula schools to ensure justice for underprivileged students.
Moreover, Yadav raised concerns over the quality of food provided to students, claiming that poor conditions have led to health issues, as bills for suppliers have remained unpaid for ten months. He lamented the lack of oversight from the Minister of Education, pointing out that the Education Commission has made no significant progress since its establishment.
The BRSV leader also took aim at comments made by the Chief Minister regarding engineering students allegedly using drugs, demanding evidence and an immediate apology to preserve the reputation of educational institutions.
The press meet concluded with Yadav criticizing Revanth Reddy's tenure as CM, alleging negligence towards key educational institutions like IIIT Basara and questioning his commitment to scholarship programs initiated by previous administrations.BRSV vice-president Tunga Balu, along with leaders Naveen and Vishal, were present at the conference, echoing Yadav’s sentiments and calling for urgent reforms in the state's education sector.
