Maruti Suzuki WagonR Marks 25th Anniversary

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) celebrates the 25th anniversary of the WagonR, a car that has become synonymous with family comfort and reliability in India. Launched in 1999 as the ‘Tall Boy’, the WagonR quickly established itself as a spacious and practical choice for families. Today, it remains a top performer, having secured the title of India’s highest-selling car for the last three consecutive financial years (FY 22, 23 & 24).

With over 32 lakh satisfied customers, the WagonR has proven popular among both first-time buyers and repeat customers. The model lineup offers a variety of choices with 1.2L and 1.0L engine options, as well as manual and AGS transmissions, and S-CNG variants.

The WagonR is available in multiple variants, including two advanced K-Series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engines – 1.2L and 1.0L, offering flexibility with both manual and AGS transmission options. The model was also a pioneer in India, being one of the first to offer a factory-fitted CNG system. The WagonR S-CNG has become India’s highest-selling CNG model, with 6.6 lakh units sold to date, further cementing its appeal with superior performance and exceptional fuel efficiency.

Built on the robust 5th-generation HEARTECT platform, the WagonR incorporates high tensile steel to form a safety cage, with strategically placed crumple zones for enhanced passenger protection. Advanced safety features include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and the Electronic Stability Program® (ESP).

The WagonR also boasts a range of premium features, including a 17.78cm (7”) SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Bluetooth connectivity and voice commands further enhance convenience, along with steering-mounted audio controls for a more enjoyable driving experience.
