Honda Launches Road Safety Campaign in Siddipet
Campaign Educates Over 2,200 School Students and Staff Members
Siddipet, Telangana, December 13, 2024 – As part of its ongoing commitment to road safety, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) conducted a road safety awareness campaign today in Siddipet, Telangana. The initiative reached over 2,200 students and staff members from Kendriya Vidyalaya and Sahasraa High School, reinforcing HMSI’s dedication to promoting responsible road behavior, particularly among young individuals.
The campaign aimed to instill safe road habits through engaging and interactive programs. Recognizing the crucial role young people play in shaping a safer road culture, HMSI focused on imparting essential road safety knowledge through theoretical lessons, danger prediction training, helmet awareness sessions, and practical exercises. Participants also took part in a road safety quiz, making the learning process both informative and engaging.
This initiative is part of HMSI’s broader efforts to reduce road accidents and promote responsible driving habits. The company regularly conducts similar campaigns in schools, colleges, and institutions, targeting both government and non-government sectors.
HMSI expressed gratitude to Kendriya Vidyalaya and Sahasraa High School for their support in ensuring the success of the campaign, highlighting the importance of collaboration in fostering safer roads.
Since its launch in Telangana, HMSI has educated nearly 300,000 individuals, including both children and adults, on responsible road usage. The Siddipet campaign marks another significant milestone in HMSI’s ongoing efforts to improve road safety in India.
HMSI’s CSR Commitment to Road Safety
As part of its global vision for 2050, Honda aims for zero traffic collision fatalities involving its motorcycles and automobiles. In line with this vision, HMSI is working with the Government of India to reduce fatalities by half by 2030.
A key aspect of this goal is developing a road safety culture among children. HMSI believes that road safety education at schools and colleges not only raises awareness but also introduces a safety mindset to young minds, empowering them to become road safety ambassadors and future leaders in promoting safer communities.
The company’s efforts also extend to various sections of society, with specialized programs for schoolchildren, corporates, and the broader public. HMSI’s skilled safety instructors conduct daily programs at its 10 adopted Traffic Training Parks (TTPs) and 6 Safety Driving Education Centers (SDECs) across India. These initiatives have already reached over 8.5 million people.
Innovative Road Safety Training
HMSI’s National Road Safety Awareness Program offers scientifically designed learning modules that combine theoretical and practical lessons. These include:
• Theoretical Lessons: Participants learn about road signs, driver duties, riding posture, and safe riding etiquettes.
• Practical Training: Honda’s virtual riding simulator allows participants to experience over 100 potential dangers on the road.
• Danger Prediction Training: Known as Kiken Yosoku Training (KYT), this activity enhances riders’ sensitivity to potential hazards, promoting safer behavior on the road.
• Riding Skill Enhancement: Existing riders honed their skills through slow-riding activities and navigating narrow planks.
Additionally, HMSI recently launched its digital road safety learning platform, E-Gurukul. This platform provides training modules for children and young adults, ensuring a comprehensive approach to road safety education. Available in multiple languages, including Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and English, E-Gurukul is designed to cater to diverse regional needs and can be accessed at egurukul.honda.hmsi.in.
The platform is part of HMSI’s efforts to empower educators, children, and communities to embrace safe road practices. Moving forward, E-Gurukul will expand to schools across all states, furthering the company’s mission to promote road safety education for all.
