Bangladesh Minister going to Pakistan
Dhaka, Dec 17 (UNI) Bangladesh State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam is leaving for Pakistan to attend a special session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). This will be the first visit by a Minister from Bangladesh to Pakistan in the last decade.
According to Foreign Ministry sources, a special session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers is being held in Pakistan on December 18 and 19 to discuss the situation in Afghanistan.
Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Masud bin Momen will attend a meeting of senior officials on December 18. The next day, the Minister will take part in the Ministerial-level meeting.
Foreign Ministry sources said no bilateral meeting with Pakistan outside the OIC programme was scheduled.
Gawhar Rizvi, Advisor to the Prime Minister on International Relations, last attended the D-8 Summit in Pakistan in 2012.
In 2010, then Foreign Secretary Mizarul Kayes visited Pakistan to attend the Fifth Bilateral Foreign Secretary level meeting.
