- In a heartwarming ceremony held this past weekend, Arjumand Juweria was honored with the prestigious NRI Women's Icon Award for her remarkable contributions to the community. Juweria, a beloved pharmacist and tireless community activist, has been a beacon of hope and compassion in Jersey City and beyond for over 11 years.

Throughout her time in Jersey City, Juweria has passionately dedicated herself to various humanitarian efforts. Her initiatives range from feeding the homeless and providing essential supplies to those in need, to volunteering during holidays and special events. Juweria's commitment to service is evident in her efforts to cook and pack meals for prisoners during Ramadan, distribute clothing to the underprivileged, and organize food and toy drives during Thanksgiving and the festive season.

One of Juweria’s most notable accomplishments is her collaboration with the Gurdwara community, where she has helped prepare and distribute an astonishing 10,000 meals across the Tristate area. She has also been actively involved in celebrations of Women’s Day, Father’s Day, and Mother’s Day, spreading joy and appreciation for individuals who make a difference in our lives. On Valentine's Day, she has brought happiness to senior citizens by distributing treats and celebrating their birthdays.

Juweria's philanthropic efforts extend far beyond Jersey City. She has been instrumental in installing bore wells in regions around the globe, ensuring access to clean water for those in dire need. Her support for children's education and medical expenses, as well as her involvement in book drives, has transformed countless lives.

During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Juweria's dedication to her community shone brightly. As a pharmacist, she worked tirelessly, donning her white coat and serving on the front lines to ensure the health and safety of her community. Her fearless commitment and resilience are a testament to the unwavering spirit of healthcare warriors.

Juweria's advocacy efforts have also made significant impacts in local governance. She has campaigned for elected officials, provided essential supplies to the homeless, and facilitated the distribution of religious texts and necessities to prisoners. Her efforts have led to the successful introduction and advocacy of the Hindu Heritage Month and Sikh Heritage Month bills, alongside key political figures such as County Commissioner Bill O’Dea and City Council President Joyce Watterman. She has also played a pivotal role in the Muslim Heritage Month bill, working closely with Brother Ahmed Shedeed and Councilwoman Mira Prinz-Arey.

Expressing her gratitude upon receiving the NRI Women's Icon Award, Juweria said, "I am incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to serve our community. Together, we can spread love, compassion, and kindness, making a difference in the lives of those around us."

Arjumand Juweria’s unwavering dedication to community service, her compassionate spirit, and her impactful advocacy work truly embody the essence of the NRI Women's Icon Award.
