Hyderabad: DCC Hyderabad President Waliullah Sameer, joined by key leaders, celebrated the first anniversary of Telangana’s progress under the Congress government. The event, held at DarulShifa in Hyderabad’s Old City, featured a flag-hoisting ceremony and cake cutting. Senior Congress leaders Mirza Askar Ali Baig, Raza Ali, and their team organized the event, which saw the participation of prominent figures such as State Library Chairman Dr. Riyaz, HCC Minority Department Chairman Arshad Shaik, and contested MLA Venkatesh, senior leaders Yousuf Danish, Shakeel Dayani, and others
Speaking at the occasion, Waliullah Sameer attributed the Congress Party's success in Telangana to the trust and support of Hyderabad's citizens. “The Congress government has worked tirelessly over the past year to fulfill its promises. The ‘6 Guarantees’ program has already delivered significant benefits, including free bus travel for women, 200 units of free electricity, gas cylinders at rupess 500, a ₹2 lakh farm loan waiver, Arogyashree health cards, and plans for Metro rail expansion in the Old City,” he said.
Sameer assured that the remaining guarantees would be implemented soon, adding that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is preparing to launch the white ration card scheme by January 2025.
Criticizing the financial mismanagement of the previous BRS government, Sameer said, “Telangana is burdened by loans due to the BRS administration’s failures. Our government is working to free the state from debt and realize the vision of a ‘Golden Telangana.’”
Highlighting disparities in Hyderabad’s development, Sameer emphasized the need for balanced growth. “Hyderabad is the heart of Telangana, yet some leaders have divided it into New City and Old City. While New City has seen significant development, the Old City remains neglected. Our government is committed to ensuring equal progress for all regions,” he stated.
The celebration concluded with a renewed pledge from Congress leaders to prioritize the welfare and development of Telangana’s people.
