TITA moots first of its kind Agri-Hackathon

Hyderabad: To revolutionize the farm sector, brand Hackathon has announced that it will organise an Agriculture Hackathon. The hackathon aims to encourage and find innovative solutions leveraging technology in the farm sector in the country, Hackathon brand owner Sundeep Kumar Makthala said. 

For this, Hackathon, in association with Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) is taking the help of techies to chart action plans and devise strategies to make agriculture a profit making occupation. A delegation led by Sundeep Makthala visited the Jeedemetla Centre of Excellence, a research and training institute to study prospects about the use of technology in the Agri-sector. The team also studied various aspects of soil testing and how it is helpful in the farm sector. 

Based on suggestions from Horticulture Department Commissioner Venkatram Reddy and Horticulture University in Mulugu, a delegation of 40 techies visited the Centre of Excellence in Jedimetla & Mulugu. The team led by Sundeep Makthala enquired and studied various innovations in the agriculture sector and farm mechanization techniques. They also inspected automated seeding machines imported from Italy, visited poly-house where they inspected various fruits and vegetables grown on the premises. 

The Hackathon in the past had organised a massive India Biggest Hackathon. Students, technology professionals, innovators and others were among 10,000 people, who took part in the hackathon organised at Nampally Exhibition Grounds for 36-hours. 

Sundeep Makthala said that the Agriculture Hackathon will be the first of its kind in the country though similar such events were held virtually elsewhere in the country. The event will witness events and discussion on all agri-aspects right from tilling of the land, sowing seeds to the harvesting of the crop.  

Horticulture Department Commissioner Venkatram Reddy, Retired Engineers Forum Secretary Shyam Prasad Reddy, V Prakash, WALAMTARI, Irrigation Department Deputy Engineer Shankar Prasad, Institute of Engineer were among those who facilitated the Hackathon team visit to COE, Hyderabad. Hailing the Hackathon® and TITA for their efforts, they also promised to support the Association’s cause for the betterment of the agri-sector.
