Karimnagar: Karimnagar rural police on Tuesday arrested three chain snatchers and recovered 105.85 grams of gold ornaments and two motorcycles.
Producing the accused before media persons at his office, Rural ACP P Venkatramana said that Yedavelli Deepak, Yedavelli Chandu of Elabotharam and Simharaju Naresh, Sankenapalli of Velgatoor mandal were arrested during a vehicle check at Ammagudi chowk in Teegalaguttapalli area in the morning. Police found two persons moving on a bike under suspicious circumstances. After seeing the police, they tried to escape from the spot. However, they were detained by cops.
On questioning, they revealed their names as Deepak and Chandu and confessed to chain snatchings in isolated areas in Sitarampur, Moharnagar, Nagunur, Vavilalapally, Gopalpur, Jyothinagar and Teegalaguttapalli. Moving on motorcycles, they target single women walking on the roads and flee with gold chains. They committed seven chain snatchings in Karimnagar Town-III, Kothapalli, Karimnagar Town-II and Karimnagar police stations limits.
