Hyderabad Hosts National Silk Expo 2024, Inaugurated by Sridevi Vijaya Das
Hyderabad:Known for its iconic biryani and sherwani, Hyderabad is now hosting the National Silk Expo 2024. The 9-day event was inaugurated by Sridevi Vijaya Das, Founder of the Hasthakala Artisans Foundation, at Kalinga Cultural Hall, Road No. 12, Banjara Hills. Organized by Jagdishwar Hastkala, the expo showcases a diverse collection of handmade cotton and silk wear, exclusive silk saris, and handloom creations.
Speaking at the inauguration, Sridevi Vijaya Das highlighted the importance of such platforms for promoting well-designed, handmade textile products. "Exhibitions like these are crucial for bringing together high-quality handcrafted silk and cotton wear under one roof," she said.
Jayesh Kumar, the exhibition organizer, emphasized the social objective of supporting weavers and providing a direct market for their handloom products. "These exhibitions have helped establish markets for weavers, even in areas where such events are not possible," Kumar shared. He also noted that the expo offers pure silk and cotton products directly from weavers to customers, bypassing intermediaries.
The National Silk Expo 2024 will be open to the public until December 29, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
