Hyderabad: Telangana to Issue New Ration Cards and Launch Key Welfare Schemes from January 26**

The government of Telangana will begin issuing new ration cards to eligible beneficiaries from January 26, State Transport and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar announced during a media briefing in Hyderabad on Sunday. Beneficiaries will be identified through field-level verification between January 16 and 20, with the data of eligible individuals being recorded from January 21.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who oversees Hyderabad as its in-charge minister, confirmed that the Congress government would adhere to existing eligibility criteria for issuing ration cards. He assured that migrant families residing in Hyderabad would also be considered for the scheme.

Emphasizing the government's commitment to justice for the poor beyond political differences, the minister revealed that applications for new ration cards and Indiramma housing would be accepted. Families owning land in Hyderabad would receive priority under the Indiramma housing scheme to help them build homes.

The government also plans to complete the pending double-bedroom houses initiated by the previous administration. These 2BHK homes will be allotted to beneficiaries through a draw of lots, following discussions with contractors to expedite their completion.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed District Collectors to ensure no individual holds multiple ration cards across different locations. The distribution of ration cards is part of a larger welfare initiative set to launch on January 26, which includes:

1. Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa: Financial assistance of ₹12,000 annually for landless poor laborer families.
2. Rythu Bharosa: Crop investment support of ₹12,000 per acre for farmers.

The lists of beneficiaries for Indiramma Atmiya Bharosa and ration cards will be displayed at Gram Sabhas, as announced by the Chief Minister on January 10.

Additionally, the government aims to ensure housing for all homeless families. Details of 18.32 lakh identified beneficiaries through the Indiramma app have already been shared with districts. Priority will be given to the poorest of the poor, with 3,500 houses sanctioned for each Assembly constituency under the first phase of the housing scheme.
