Asaduddin Owaisi Questions PM Modi's China Policy and Criticizes Governance
Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday, January 7, raised sharp questions regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policy on China. Expressing concern over India’s approach to the ongoing border tensions, Owaisi questioned whether there is a concrete plan to restore soldiers’ patrolling rights in Galwan. He criticized the government's "solemn protests" in Chinese-occupied districts of Ladakh as inadequate and asked, “Have we completely given up on the restoration of the April 2020 status quo in eastern Ladakh?”
The AIMIM chief also targeted the Modi government for allegedly failing to provide the armed forces with adequate resources to manage challenges on two fronts: China and Pakistan.
Concerns Over Military Preparedness
Owaisi highlighted several shortcomings in India’s defense capabilities, including:
- The absence of a third aircraft carrier for the Navy.
- Depleted fighter squadron strength in the Indian Air Force.
- Shortages of AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control Systems) and mid-air refueling capabilities.
Internal Security and Criticism of Manipur Violence
Owaisi also accused the Modi government of neglecting India’s internal security, particularly in the context of the ongoing violence in Manipur. He argued that politicizing the armed forces could further undermine India’s external security.
Diplomatic Jibe and Parliamentary Criticism
Taking a swipe at PM Modi’s diplomacy, Owaisi referred to the Prime Minister gifting a diamond ring to Jill Biden, the First Lady of the United States. He claimed that India’s diplomacy had been “reduced to gifting rings.”
Owaisi also criticized the government for stifling debate in Parliament on critical national issues. In a post on X, he said, “The Indian public is being kept in the dark, distracted by trivia and random entertainment while the country suffers on multiple fronts. I know there will be no answers from Mr. Modi because he has none—except for the unchecked vitriol, hatred, and violence against Muslims under his watch.”
The AIMIM leader’s remarks come amid heightened tensions along India’s borders and growing questions about the government’s defense and foreign policy strategies.
