Hyderabad’s Numaish Hosts Ladies’ Day Today
Hyderabad: The All India Industrial Exhibition (AIIE) Society’s annual Numaish is celebrating Ladies’ Day today. On this day, men and boys above ten years of age are not permitted to enter the exhibition, ensuring a dedicated space for women and younger children.
History of Ladies’ Day at Numaish
The tradition of Ladies’ Day at Numaish began in 1940, introduced by the last Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan. Initially, Tuesdays were designated as Ladies’ Day throughout the exhibition. However, due to a decline in attendance on these days, it was later decided to dedicate just one day during the entire event for women and children. Despite the exclusivity today, the exhibition timings remain unchanged.
Stalls and Attractions at Numaish
This year, the exhibition received around 2,500 applications for stalls, of which approximately 2,200 have been allocated. These stalls feature a variety of goods, including crockery, readymade garments, shawls, handicrafts, beddings, and upholstery.
Beyond shopping, Numaish offers a unique blend of commerce, recreation, and relaxation, drawing lakhs of visitors annually.
Security Measures
To ensure the safety of all visitors, the AIIE Society has implemented strict security protocols, including CCTV surveillance, a dedicated police station, fire safety arrangements, and security personnel on-site.
Upcoming Event: Children’s Special Day
In addition to Ladies’ Day, Numaish will host a ‘Children’s Special Day’ on January 31, adding another special occasion to its calendar of events.
Numaish continues to be a cherished annual tradition in Hyderabad, combining cultural heritage with modern festivities.
