HYDRAA Chief Inspects Encroachments in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills
Hyderabad: On Tuesday, January 7, AV Ranganath, the Commissioner of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), conducted an inspection of the HUDA Enclave Colony and Guru Brahma Nagar Basti in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills. During the inspection, Ranganath discovered several potentially illegal constructions, including a compound wall near the Nandagiri layout that was built to secure a park next to a slum area. The area contains structures primarily made of tin sheets, and the wall is suspected to violate encroachment laws, as indicated by a complaint received by HYDRAA.
“A detailed survey will be conducted in these areas to assess illegal constructions and encroachments, after measuring the layout,” Ranganath said. He added that HYDRAA would secure the compound and use Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) technology for the surveys. Additionally, Ranganath mentioned that once the HYDRAA police station is operational, the agency would be able to file cases related to encroachments.
Ranganath further stated that after completing the surveys, HYDRAA would collaborate with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), and the district collector to devise a rehabilitation plan for Basti residents. He also issued a stern warning, emphasizing heavy penalties and consequences for land grabbing and encroachments.
Ranganath also revealed that providing Pakka housing for Guru Brahma Nagar Basti residents is part of the government's broader plan. Khairtabad MLA Danam Nagendar joined Ranganath during the inspection and stated that the park in the area would be redeveloped through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects by multinational corporations once the surveys are complete. “Every inch of illegal encroachment will be reclaimed by the government,” he affirmed.
HYDRAA Dismantles Illegal Construction in Ayyappa Society
On Sunday, January 5, HYDRAA also demolished a multi-storeyed building in Ayyappa Society, Khanamet, Serilingampally. This action followed a visit by Ranganath to review a complaint concerning a 684-yard plot. The building, which had received demolition notices from GHMC and the Telangana High Court, violated the court's orders. Despite receiving notices in February 2024 and a partial demolition in June 2024, construction continued, prompting the latest demolition action.
