Bandi Sanjay Claims Sharp Rise in Crime Against Women in Telangana Under Congress Rule
Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, on Wednesday, accused the Congress government of failing to address crime against women in Telangana, claiming a sharp increase in such incidents. He also criticized Congress leaders for making “false” claims about the government's promises to women in the state.
In response to Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate's statement that the Telangana government is providing Rs 2,500 per month to 90 lakh women, Sanjay took to social media to challenge the claim. He said, "AICC is filled with fake news peddlers. Telangana women haven’t received even Re 1 from the Congress government. Instead of empowering women, they are crushing them—demolishing homes, targeting vegetable vendors, and forcing pregnant women onto the streets. This isn’t governance, it’s organized cruelty against women."
Sanjay further alleged that under Congress’ rule, crimes against women had risen drastically. He pointed out that rape cases increased by 28.94%, murders of women rose by 13%, and kidnappings surged by 26%. "Over 10,000 women have faced harassment in public places under Congress' rule. Is this their vision of empowerment?" he asked. He also highlighted an 8% rise in cases of outraging women's modesty.
The BJP leader condemned Congress as a party of "predators, destroyers, and liars," emphasizing that the women of Telangana deserve safety, respect, and support, not fear and betrayal.
In addition to his remarks on women’s safety, Bandi Sanjay condemned an attack on the state BJP office in Hyderabad by Congress cadres during a protest over BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri's comments about Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi. He warned Congress cadres, stating, "Congress goons, don’t you dare lay a finger on the BJP office! We won’t be intimidated by Congress rowdyism."
Sanjay demanded the immediate arrest of the individuals responsible for the attack, stating that the BJP office is a sacred space where women and others work tirelessly.
