Stress on infection prevention and control in healthcare
Care Hospitals conducts 8th national hospital IPC course
Hyderabad: “Infection prevention and control (IPC) aims to arrest the spread of infections in healthcare facilities and the community. It is the responsibility of every healthcare worker to ensure that patients, visitors, and staff are safe at all times. Healthcare workers require at least a basic understanding of IPC principles and practice.” observed Rajeev Chourey, vice-president, quality & accreditation, Care Hospitals.
He was speaking at the 8th National hospital-acquired Infection, Prevention and Control Certificate Course conducted by Care Hospitals at Nampally on Saturday. The course aims to create awareness among other healthcare facilities, which people visit expecting safety against infections.
Dr Mustafa Afzal, consultant microbiologist, course director and the chief organizer said the scope of the initiative was to prevent healthcare-associated infection, standardize precautions, transmission-based precautions, and management of sterilization procedures.

Sanjula Varma, vice-president, Nursing, Dr. Navin Chand, deputy medical superintendent, Care Hospitals, Nampally and Deepa, nursing superintendent, Care Hospitals, Nampally attended the event.
