G.N. Keshav Condemns Manda Krishna Madiga Comments, Defends Congress’s Commitment to Social Equality and Accuses Manda Krishna Madiga of Divisive Tactics

G.N. Keshav Criticizes Manda Krishna Madiga Over Remarks on Mallikarjun Kharge

G.N. Keshav, Telangana Congress State Secretary and senior Congress leader, has strongly criticized Manda Krishna Madiga, founder of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS), for his recent comments about Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge. Keshav denounced Manda Krishna Madiga remarks as inappropriate and misleading, asserting that Manda Krishna Madiga is not in a position to make such statements about Kharge.

In a statement to Wake Up Telangana, Keshav condemned Manda Krishna Madiga description of the Mala community as "Manuvadis" and warned that such accusations could incite division and hatred. He emphasized that labeling the Mala social class in this manner is harmful and counterproductive for national unity.

On August 21, Manda Krishna Madiga made controversial remarks about Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge. The following day, August 22, Madiga met with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. In response to these events, Keshav has publicly questioned whether Manda Krishna Madiga is in sound mental health, suggesting that his recent behavior may indicate a possible issue.

Keshav highlighted the Congress Party’s historical commitment to the Madiga community, citing various initiatives introduced since 1976 under Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s leadership. These include:

Reservation Policies: Enhancements in educational, employment, and political representation for the Madiga community.
Economic Empowerment: Financial assistance, training, and employment opportunities for Madiga youth and entrepreneurs.
Social Welfare Schemes: Improvements in health, education, and living conditions for the poor.
Keshav also reiterated Congress’s support for the SC/ST Women Reservation Bill, originally introduced in 1996 and aimed at reserving 33% of seats in Lok Sabha and state legislatures for women, including SC/ST women. Although the bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha in 2010, it was not enacted due to the dissolution of the Lok Sabha in 2014. Congress has pledged to revive and pass the bill if it returns to power.

Keshav accused Manda Krishna Madiga of attempting to create a rift between the Mala and Madiga communities with the help of the BJP. He warned Manda Krishna Madiga to refrain from divisive tactics, stressing that the Congress Party has consistently worked for the betterment of all communities, including Madigas.
