BRSV GHMC Coordinator Slams Education Department Over Shocking Conditions at Falaknuma Government College

Falaknuma, Hyderabad – ( WAKE UP TELANGAAN )

In a scathing attack on the state’s Education Department, BRS V GHMC Coordinator Mir Qurram Ali has condemned the appalling state of facilities at the government-run Falaknuma College. Speaking to the media, Ali expressed deep concern over the "unacceptable" conditions in the college, which he claimed had deteriorated under the watch of both local education authorities and the government.

Ali emphasized that the college, located in the heart of Hyderabad’s old city, is facing dire challenges, including a severe lack of basic infrastructure and hygiene. According to him, the college's classrooms are devoid of essential amenities such as fans, proper seating arrangements, clean washrooms, and tables. He described the overall environment as "unsanitary," further highlighting that the existing facilities are poorly maintained.

"The Education Department is sleeping on the job. The District Education Officer (DEO) and the Mandal Education Officer (MEO) are not focused on their responsibilities," Ali declared. He said the lack of attention to this government college is evident in the substandard living and learning conditions that students have to endure daily.

The coordinator also pointed out the severe shortage of essential infrastructure at the college, such as benches, proper seating arrangements, and functioning washrooms. He criticized the college management for their failure to maintain basic cleanliness in the premises, questioning how such an important educational institution could be left in such a dilapidated state.

Ali raised concerns over the funds allocated to improve the college’s condition, specifically questioning the whereabouts of the ₹21 crore allocated by the state government for the development of government colleges. "Where is the ₹21 crore that was sanctioned for the improvement of this college?" Ali asked. "Students and faculty are suffering, and yet the promises remain unfulfilled. What has the Education Department done with this funding?"

Mir Qurram Ali also took aim at Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and Minister K. Rajan Reddy, urging them to take immediate action to address the deficiencies. "The Chief Minister must fulfill the promises made to government colleges. Where is the ₹5 lakh loan for the students? Where are the scholarships that were promised?" he said, referring to the financial aid meant for students in need.

In his critique, Ali also called out the teachers at Falaknuma Government College, claiming that they are not being attentive to the needs of students. "The teachers themselves are not showing the kind of commitment expected of them. There’s a complete lack of focus on the welfare of students," he added.

The BRS leader went on to highlight that Falaknuma Government College, one of the oldest institutions in the Old City, should be a model for other government colleges. However, he lamented that the situation at Falaknuma is so dire that it raises concerns for the state of other educational institutions in the region. "If this is the condition of a historical college like Falaknuma, what about the others? How can we expect students to succeed in an environment like this?" Ali questioned.

In a final call to action, Mir Qurram Ali demanded swift intervention from the state government to resolve these issues and provide the necessary facilities and support to the students and faculty at Falaknuma Government College. He urged the state leadership to take responsibility for the condition of educational institutions and ensure that the allocated funds reach the institutions where they are needed most.

The controversy surrounding Falaknuma Government College has sparked a wider debate on the state of public education in Telangana, with many students and local residents demanding urgent reforms and improvements to infrastructure.
