"Revolutionizing Oral Care: Colgate’s AI-Powered Initiative Aims to Enhance Dental Health for Millions Across India"

Colgate Launches AI-Powered Oral Health Movement to Empower Millions of Indians

Colgate-Palmolive (India) Limited, a leading oral care brand, has unveiled its groundbreaking Oral Health Movement, leveraging artificial intelligence to drive awareness and action in dental care across India.

This initiative, launched in partnership with the Indian Dental Association (IDA) and its network of 50,000 dentists, combines cutting-edge AI-powered dental screening technology with extensive outreach efforts to make oral health a national priority.

Central to the movement is an AI-enabled tool developed with Logy.AI, allowing individuals to receive a personalized dental screening report through WhatsApp. Available in nine Indian languages, users can access the service by scanning QR codes on Colgate product packs or dialing a dedicated helpline (8806088060). By answering a few simple questions and uploading three photos of their mouth, users receive a free, instant AI-generated report.

Following the screening, individuals can avail of free consultations with IDA-registered dentists, making professional dental care more accessible than ever.

To maximize its impact, the Oral Health Movement will engage communities through retail outlets, schools, workplaces, and public spaces across multiple cities. A robust media campaign, spanning television, digital platforms, and influencer collaborations, supports the initiative, urging Indians to prioritize oral health.

"Improving the oral health of India is our core mission," said Prabha Narasimhan, Managing Director & CEO of Colgate-Palmolive (India). "The #ColgateOralHealthMovement democratizes access to oral care, empowering millions to take charge of their oral health from the comfort of their homes. Together with our partners, we aim to build a healthier population and, ultimately, a healthier nation."

Colgate’s long-standing education program, Bright Smiles, Bright Futures® (BSBF), has already reached over 180 million schoolchildren since 1976. In 2023, the program expanded in collaboration with state governments in Uttar Pradesh and Goa, impacting over 2 crore children in Uttar Pradesh and 2 lakh in Goa.

Colgate’s 2023 study with Kantar highlights the pressing need for this initiative:

  • 90% of Indians face oral health issues.
  • Only 9% visit a dentist annually.
  • 80% of urban Indians fail to brush twice daily.

Despite South India being comparatively more conscious, only 14% report regular dental checkups, underscoring the urgency to bridge the gap in oral care awareness and action nationwide.

Through partnerships with retailers, schools, housing societies, and public institutions, the Oral Health Movement aims to reach millions. Free dental screenings, combined with educational campaigns, mark a significant step toward making oral care accessible for all.

Colgate's initiative underscores its commitment to improving oral health, promoting well-being, and contributing to a healthier India.
