Medi Assist and BCG Unveil 'Borderless Health' Framework to Achieve Universal Healthcare by 2047
"Health JAM Trinity and Patient360 Pave the Way for Equitable, Tech-Driven Healthcare Across India"
Medi Assist, India’s leading Health Benefits Administrator, in collaboration with Boston Consulting Group (BCG), unveiled a groundbreaking framework for "Borderless Health" at the Raksha Summit 2024. This initiative aligns with the "Viksit Bharat by 2047" vision, aiming to provide universal, high-quality, and accessible healthcare for all Indians.
The report identifies key barriers to healthcare access and proposes a data-driven, technology-enabled model to address disparities, boost insurance coverage, and balance curative and preventive care investments.
At the core of the framework is the "Health JAM Trinity," a trio of enablers:
- Joined Health Data: 100% digital, tokenized health records accessible across the ecosystem.
- Automation: AI-powered claims processing, fraud detection, and personalized care packages.
- Mobile-Enabled Healthcare: On-demand access to healthcare, bridging geographical and economic divides.
Strategic milestones include achieving 90% universal health insurance by 2035 and a fully interoperable health data system by 2040. The framework also promotes a three-pronged delivery model:
- G2C (Government to Citizen): Strengthening schemes like Ayushman Bharat to include preventive care.
- E2E (Employer to Employee): Expanding employer-provided health benefits.
- B2C (Business to Customer): Offering customizable retail health insurance.
"This vision requires collective action among insurers, policymakers, and healthcare providers to ensure equitable access," said Alpesh Shah, Managing Director at BCG. Medi Assist CEO Satish Gidugu emphasized the importance of an inclusive approach, stating, "True progress lies in universal, on-demand healthcare."
The initiative underscores the transformative potential of Patient360, a unified digital health platform, to revolutionize care delivery across India.
