Tushar Gandhi Applauds Freedom at Midnight on Sony LIV
Sony LIV's Freedom at Midnight Receives Praise from Tushar Gandhi and Industry Insiders
Sony LIV's latest historical drama, Freedom at Midnight, has garnered attention for its compelling portrayal of India's fight for independence. Directed by Nikkhil Advani, the series has struck a chord with viewers and industry professionals alike.
A notable endorsement came from Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi. He shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his initial skepticism about the show. "Started watching Freedom at Midnight on Sony LIV. I had thought it would be a hatchet job on Bapu & Pandit Nehru & a Hindutva version of our freedom. I was wrong. Teaches a lesson not to have preconceived notions. Although it leaves a lot to desire, I recommend it. Must watch," Gandhi wrote.
In addition to Gandhi's praise, acclaimed director Sudhir Mishra, who is also a mentor to Advani, commended the director for his hard work and vision in bringing the historical drama to life.
Based on the book by Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre, Freedom at Midnight features a talented ensemble cast, including Sidhant Gupta, Chirag Vohra, Rajendra Chawla, Arif Zakaria, Malishka Mendonsa, and more. The series is produced by Emmay Entertainment and StudioNext, with Advani serving as both showrunner and director.
Freedom at Midnight is now streaming exclusively on Sony LIV.
