Hyderabad: Five children were injured when the ceiling of an Anganwadi in Venkatapur village, Narayankhed mandal, Sangareddy district, collapsed on them on the morning of Friday, January 24. One child sustained head injuries, while the others suffered injuries to their feet and hands. The injured children were quickly taken to the Narayankhed General Hospital for treatment amidst the chaos in the village.
Sangareddy District Collector V. Kranthi visited the hospital and reassured the families of the injured children, promising government support for their medical care. She confirmed that three students with minor injuries would be discharged that day, while two children with more severe injuries would remain under observation.
The collector also ordered an inquiry into the incident and promised strict action against those responsible for the ceiling collapse. The Anganwadi building had been renovated just a year ago.
Narayankhed MLA Dr. Sanjeev Reddy, a medical professional, also visited the hospitalized children. Expressing his sorrow over the incident, he confirmed that medical treatment had been provided. He mentioned that, at the time of the incident, 25 students were present in the Anganwadi, and sadly, five children were injured. He noted that the renovation had been carried out under the BRS government.
