Hyderabad MP and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi expressed his heartfelt condolences on the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

Describing the late Prime Minister’s passing as a significant loss for India, Owaisi said, “Truly saddened to hear of Dr. Manmohan Singh’s demise. A partition refugee who rose to become the RBI Governor, Finance Minister, and Prime Minister, his story is remarkable. I will always remember him as the only Prime Minister who made sincere efforts to uplift India’s marginalized, including minorities and backward classes. My condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.”

Dr. Manmohan Singh, widely regarded as the architect of India’s 1991 economic reforms, passed away on Thursday night at the age of 92. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi announced his death at 9:51 PM.

From Partition Refugee to Prime Minister
Dr. Singh’s extraordinary journey began as a partition refugee, and he rose to become one of India’s most respected leaders and economists. He served as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Finance Minister, and Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014.

As Finance Minister under P.V. Narasimha Rao, Singh spearheaded transformative economic reforms in 1991, abolishing the Licence Raj, liberalizing markets, and introducing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). These reforms are credited with reshaping India’s economic trajectory.

Dr. Singh is survived by his wife, Gursharan Kaur, and their three daughters. His passing has prompted tributes from national and international leaders, including Asaduddin Owaisi, who honored his remarkable legacy.
