Passengers aboard Air India’s AI909 flight from Mumbai to Dubai faced an unbearable ordeal on Sunday, January 26, after being stranded inside the aircraft for several hours without functional air conditioning due to a technical issue. As the temperature inside the plane soared, passengers were left suffocating, with some reportedly struggling to breathe, according to Financial Express.

The discomfort became overwhelming, and passengers demanded to deboard the flight for fresh air. They only received relief after their persistent requests were met.

Originally scheduled to depart from Mumbai Airport at 8:25 am IST and land in Dubai at 10:15 am (GST), the flight experienced significant delays due to the technical glitch. After a prolonged wait, the flight finally took off at 5:10 pm IST and safely landed in Dubai at 6:29 pm GST, according to FlightRadar24, an aircraft tracking website.

Despite the incident, Air India has yet to comment on the situation.

Air India Express Announces New Baggage Policies

In a separate development, Air India Express unveiled updated baggage policies on January 21. Passengers traveling internationally to the Middle East and Singapore are now allowed to check in up to 30 kg of baggage, with a 7 kg limit on carry-on luggage. Parents traveling with infants are granted an additional 10 kg of check-in baggage, bringing their total allowance to 47 kg.

Business passengers using the Xpress Biz service can carry up to 40 kg of extra baggage, along with priority services and premium seating.
