University of East London Launches Industry Advisory Board in Hyderabad as Part of India Tour 2024
The University of East London (UEL) officially launched its Industry Advisory Board (IAB) in Hyderabad today, marking a key milestone in its ongoing India Tour 2024. The event, which took place alongside an HR roundtable, is part of UEL’s broader initiative to strengthen academic-industry ties and promote sustainable education across India.
The Hyderabad event, the second stop in UEL’s three-city tour, brought together industry leaders, academic experts, and government representatives to discuss the evolving landscape of human resources. Topics covered included digital transformation, employee experience, and diversity and inclusion, reflecting the challenges and opportunities faced by the modern workforce.
The formation of UEL’s Industry Advisory Board is a strategic move aimed at enhancing collaboration with industry experts. By doing so, the university seeks to develop innovative, industry-relevant curricula, improve student employability, and drive research and innovation. Key initiatives discussed at the event included the launch of a Merit-Based Scholarship program for Indian students and the presentation of UEL’s unique Careers Proposition, which connects students with a network of over 4,500 industry partnerships worldwide.
“The establishment of the IAB is a crucial step in ensuring that UEL’s programs remain aligned with the dynamic demands of the job market,” said Professor Amanda J. Broderick, Vice-Chancellor and President of UEL. “By working closely with industry leaders, we can better equip our students with the skills they need to thrive in the global economy. Hyderabad, known for its tech and entrepreneurial ecosystem, is the perfect backdrop for this initiative.”
The event also included a HealthTech roundtable, where attendees discussed UEL’s “Year of Health” initiative in India, which aims to drive health innovation and wellness. In addition, key discussions centered on the growing participation of Indian students in the UK education system, with UEL emphasizing the importance of this student demographic to both the university and the broader UK education market.
UEL’s partnership with prominent organizations such as Siemens and T-Hub has been instrumental in advancing its goals in India. These collaborations offer students unique opportunities for internships, work placements, and research projects, further enhancing their global employability.
The India Tour 2024, which is being held in collaboration with Siemens and T-Hub, is part of UEL’s broader strategy to promote sustainability in higher education and strengthen industry-academia partnerships. The tour is designed to inspire the next generation of global leaders, with discussions covering themes such as technological innovation, sustainable development, and global citizenship.
Following today’s roundtable, the UEL India Tour will continue with a Women in Leadership Awards ceremony in Vadodara on November 22, 2024.
