Hyderabad: TSRTC Announces Fare Hike and Special Buses for Sankranti Holidays in Telangana

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has revised ticket prices for RTC buses in anticipation of the Sankranti holidays. Announced on Thursday, January 9, the ticket fares for certain RTC buses will see a 1.5% hike, applicable on January 10, 11, 12, 19, and 20.

Schools in Hyderabad and other districts across Telangana will observe Sankranti holidays from January 11 to 17. To accommodate the festive rush, TSRTC will operate 6,432 special buses. These buses will cater to passengers traveling to their native places on January 10, 11, and 12 and facilitate their return on January 19 and 20 after the festival.

As part of the Telangana government’s Maha Laxmi Scheme, free bus services for women will be available in Palle Velugu, Express, City Ordinary, and Metro Express buses during Sankranti.

Special arrangements have been made at key locations in Hyderabad, including MGBS, JBS, Uppal Cross Roads, Aramgarh, LB Nagar Cross Roads, KPHB, Boinpally, and Gachibowli. Facilities such as pandals, shamianas, chairs, public address systems, drinking water, and mobile toilets will be provided for passenger convenience.

TSRTC will also operate buses from Hyderabad to districts such as Amalapuram, Kakinada, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, and Tirupati to manage the holiday rush. Additionally, electric buses will be deployed on routes from Karimnagar, Nizamabad, and Warangal to Hyderabad.

Sankranti Holidays for Banks in Telangana
In addition to schools and junior colleges, banks in Hyderabad will observe a holiday on January 14 for Sankranti. However, this is a one-day holiday for banks.

These holidays apply to all banks in Hyderabad.
