Telangana: BRS Leaders Placed Under House Arrest Ahead of KTR's ACB Questioning
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders, including MLA T. Harish Rao, were placed under house arrest on Thursday, January 9, ahead of BRS working president KT Rama Rao’s (KTR) questioning by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in connection with the alleged Formula E scam worth ₹54.88 crore.
The ACB had summoned KTR on Monday, but when he arrived at the office, he was denied entry as he insisted on being accompanied by his lawyers during the questioning.
Following the disagreement with officials, KTR approached the Telangana High Court. While the court partially dismissed his plea, it permitted his lawyers to observe the questioning from the ACB library, seated behind a glass door.
On Thursday morning, a heavy police presence was stationed outside Harish Rao's residence in the Financial District as the Telangana government anticipated potential protests.
