KTR Condemns Attack on Former MLA Bhupal Reddy, Blames Congress

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao has strongly condemned the attack on former MLA K. Bhupal Reddy, allegedly carried out by Congress workers in Nalgonda district.

KTR criticized the police for arresting Bhupal Reddy, who is physically challenged, instead of taking action against those responsible for the assault. He expressed outrage over the incident, stating that the attack occurred in the presence of law enforcement officers.

Taking to social media platform ‘X’ on Wednesday, KTR slammed the Congress-led government in Telangana, claiming that "people’s governance" exists only in name, as even a former MLA with physical disabilities is left unprotected. He directly blamed Roads & Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy for orchestrating the attack. According to KTR, the Congress government denied permission for the Nalgonda farmers' protest, Rythu Mahadharna, out of fear of the BRS.

“Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy’s goons vandalized flex banners and assaulted our former MLA inside a government office, right in front of the police. Instead of taking action against the attackers, the police arrested Bhupal Reddy. This is nothing but Congress’ anarchic rule,” KTR stated. He urged the Director General of Police (DGP) to take immediate action and register cases against those involved.

The incident took place at the Nalgonda municipality office when Congress workers allegedly removed BRS flex banners, leading to objections from BRS supporters. Bhupal Reddy staged a protest at the office, accusing officials of removing the banners without prior notice.

Tensions escalated as BRS leaders demanded an explanation from the Nalgonda Municipal Commissioner. A heated argument ensued between Bhupal Reddy, Municipal Chairman Burri Srinivas Reddy, and Congress leader Gummala Mohan Reddy. The confrontation soon turned violent, with workers from both parties hurling chairs and pots at each other before the police intervened to restore order.

The Rythu Mahadharna was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but permission was denied by the authorities.
