Hyderabad: Schools in Telangana to Observe Nine Holidays in January 2025

Schools in Hyderabad and across other districts of Telangana are set to observe nine holidays in January 2025. These include four Sundays, four general holidays, and three optional holidays.

Four General Holidays

According to the Telangana calendar, the following are the general holidays this month:

  • New Year’s Day – January 1
  • Bhogi – January 13
  • Sankranti/Pongal – January 14
  • Republic Day – January 26

Although Republic Day is a general holiday, it falls on a Sunday this year. On these dates, all schools in Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana will remain closed.

Three Optional Holidays

In addition to Sundays and general holidays, there are three optional holidays:

  • Birthday of Hazrat Ali – January 14
  • Kanumu – January 15
  • Shab-e-Meraj – January 25

It’s important to note that not all schools in Telangana will observe optional holidays. However, many minority schools are expected to remain closed for Shab-e-Meraj. Additionally, while the birthday of Hazrat Ali is an optional holiday, it coincides with Sankranti/Pongal, which is already a general holiday.

With this schedule, students in Telangana can look forward to multiple days off in January, providing ample time to celebrate festivals and spend time with their families.
