Hyderabad: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized the potential of green hydrogen technology as a future fuel source and committed to transforming the state into a green hydrogen hub. His remarks came during his speech at the workshop on the Hyderabad-Australia India Critical Minerals Research Hub, held at IIT Hyderabad on Friday, January 3.

Vikramarka underscored the Telangana government's dedication to innovation and sustainability, revealing the state's goal of generating 20,000 megawatts of green energy by 2030. He also highlighted that initiatives under the Australia-India Critical Minerals Research Hub, in partnership with Monash University, are crucial not only for Telangana but for India and the global community.

The Deputy CM expressed that the workshop embodies the collaborative spirit necessary to develop a clean and green energy policy for the state.

He acknowledged the significant role of IIT Hyderabad in fostering research and innovation, calling it a "dream factory" for groundbreaking ideas. "With over 11,500 research publications and 320 patents, IIT Hyderabad has generated an impressive income of Rs 1,500 crores through various startups," he added.

Vikramarka stressed that IITs are more than just educational institutions; they are pivotal in nation-building.

The Deputy Chief Minister also referred to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s description of IITs as modern temples of India, highlighting their role in providing the tools needed to address poverty and inequality through scientific and technological advancements.

Additionally, Vikramarka noted the importance of developing effective methods for extracting critical minerals in Telangana, emphasizing their vital role in both industrial applications and the development of a green economy.

He pointed out that critical minerals are essential for manufacturing solar power panels, wind turbines, electric vehicles, and energy storage batteries.
